Re-open EU, a new European Commission web platform with information essential to the safe relaunch of tourism in Europe in the post-COVID period, is now live.

The platform centralizes information gathered both by the European Commission and European Union member states. It provides:

  • real-time information on borders,
  • means of transport,
  • travel restrictions,
  • public health
  • and safety measures such as physical distancing or the wearing of face masks.

In addition, it includes an interactive map offering updates on national measures and advice for visitors from each European Union member state as well as the option of browsing country-specific information.

Developed by the Joint Research Centre, the platform is part of the Tourism and Transport package announced by the European Commission on May 13, 2020. The package provides guidelines for the safe resumption of travel by gradually lifting travel restrictions and allowing businesses to reopen, all within the boundaries of established health security protocols.
