Shanghai Marriott Hotel Pudong South now open

The 241-key Shanghai Marriott Hotel Pudong South opened its doors last week. It is Marriott’s seventh property in the city, which is China’s largest city and its financial hub.

Designed as a contemporary urban retreat that connects guests with nature, it has three restaurants, a lobby lounge, an Executive Lounge and more than 28,000 square feet of meeting and event space.

“We are delighted to unveil Shanghai Marriott Hotel Pudong South, the seventh Marriott Hotels property in Shanghai. It marks an exciting moment as we proudly continue the robust growth in the region, further showcasing the company’s strong commitment to China,” said Henry Lee, president of Greater China, Marriott International. “The new Shanghai Marriott Hotel Pudong South is setting the stage for an inspiring guest experience with its modern space, sophisticated dining offers and host of personalized services.”

The hotel’s design combines natural materials and textures. Wood, marble, fabric, leather and locally-produced hemp rope are paired with sleek furniture and geometric lighting.

Guestrooms all feature round office desks, sitting rooms with chaise longue and coffee table, and separate walk-in closet. The 33 Premier Rooms and six Executive Rooms have large windows on two sides delivering expansive views of the city.

Dining and drinking options at the hotel are:

  • Goji Kitchen Bar, an all-day restaurant serving a range of western and Asian dishes (a la carte and buffet.
  • Man Ho Chinese Restaurant, which delivers an authentic Cantonese culinary experience with a touch of Shanghai influence.
  • Smoki Moto, a specialty East Asian eatery featuring Korean barbeque and gourmet sushi.
  • The Greatroom, Marrott Hotels’ lobby lounge concept serving light fare during the day and transforming into a bar at night.

Meeting and event spaces include two pillarless ballrooms (8,600 square feet and 4,305 square feet) and four flexible function rooms.

Guests can unwind after a hard day of work or sightseeing with a visit to the indoor heated swimming pool, whirlpool, sauna room and 24-hour fitness centre.
